Redesign

GreatNonProfits is a website dedicated to providing resources and information about various non-profit organizations. GreatNonProfits helps users find an organization they wish to contribute to by curating them through a search engine. Users will be able to review all information regarding a specific organization as well as reviews and feedback from other users.
Key Features
GreatNonProfits works similar to Yelp for non-profit organizations. Some of the key features of GNP are:
-
Reviewing various types of organizations.
-
Convenience of donating on site.
-
Great resource of finding other ways of making a contribution.

The Problem?
Encouraging people to contribute to an organization can be hard without a relatable cause and sufficient information. Younger generations have a hard time accessing charities that they might be interested in contributing to because of the lack of information or disposable income.
Key takeaways
interview 1
"It's hard to get involved because I feel uninformed."
interview 2
"I'm reluctant to donate because I don't feel any emotional attachment"
interview 3
"There is not a cause I feel pulled to strongly enough to act."

our approach
We want to help individual users find Great NonProfits and to help both businesses and non profits easily make their impact visible to communities. We also want to see our generation make a greater impact in their communities and be willing to help others.
Individuals
We thought of creating an interface to all organizations in one central location that helps users locate organizations they wish to contribute to in streamlined manner.
Businesses
It's a great way for businesses to build corporate social responsibility. Provide coupons and deals for individual users will encourage them to patronize businesses they may not have known about.

analysis
Here are some of the other great sites that are doing the same thing as Great NonProfits. They do a great job at providing information for organizations but we want to create an interactive and international community.
Why We're Better
The mobile app we expect to design creates a symbiotic relationship between the individuals, organizations and participating vendors.

style tile
Our style tile helped us guide our design process moving forward. We wanted to keep the main theme of the orange but utilize the white for a clean and minimalist aesthetic.

mobile application
After designing our desktop version, the next step in our process was designing wireframes for a mobile application that works mutually with the desktop version.

the GNP mobile app
Earn points for every donation
Redeem points for various coupons at participating vendors
Manage donations
By creating an adjacent mobile app, for every purchase using the coupon a percentage is pledged back to the nonprofit of the company's choosing.

moving forward
Although designing the mobile application is a great start, there are many things in the future that can be an addition or upgrade to their platform.
Some of the things we would hope to focus on in the future:
Creating a community of donors that can rely on GreatNonProfits to ensure their donations are making an impact with their contribution.
Non-frequent donors will have a space and an incentive to help an organization they are interested in.
Help users understand they can donate more than just money (clothes, time etc.)
